Melbourne: Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada produced a rich vein of form as they rolled into the second round of the mixed doubles at the Australian Open here on Saturday.
The Indo-Canadian unseeded pair registered a 6-4, 7-6 (5), 10-7 win over the Kiwi-Slovenian team of Michael Venus and Katarina Srebotnik in the opening-round contest that lasted one hour and 21 minutes.
With the win, Bopanna and Dabrowski have now set up a clash against the Polish- Taiwanese team of Lukasz Kubot and Yung-Jan Chan.
Earlier, Bopanna and his men`s doubles Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas crashed out of the first major of the season after going down at the hands of Australian pair of Bradley Mousley and Alex Bolt 6-2, 6-7 (2), 4-6 in a thrilling second round.
Meanwhile, second-seeded mixed doubles duo of Sania Mirza and Croatia`s Ivan Dodig will also aim to make a winning start to their campaign when they take on German-Croatian team of Laura Siegemund and Mate Pavic in their mixed doubles contest later today.
