After going down in the first set, the Indo-Uruguayan duo rebounding strongly to register a 3-6, 6-3, 13-11 win over the Finnish-Australian duo of Henri Kontinen and John Peers in a exhilarating quarter-final clash.
With the win, Bopanna and Cuevas have now set up a clash against the French team of Hugo Nys and Romain Arneodo for a place in the summit showdown.
In the men's singles event, fourteen-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal continued his rich vein of form as he swept aside Diego Schwartzman of Argentina 6-4, 6-4 to storm into the last four.
Nadal, who is bidding for his 10th title at the tournament, will now lock horns Belgium's David Goffin for a place in the finals.
