LUCKNOW: At least eight coaches of a goods train derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district on Monday, a railway official said.

The train was en route to Gorakhpur from Lucknow. The derailment occurred due to a track fracture.


The derailment has disrupted rail traffic and efforts were underway to clear and repair the tracks, the official added. 


The incident took place near Red river when the train was about to reach the Barabanki railway station. 


Meanwhile, the rail route was disrupted following the derailment. 


A team of railway staff were rushed to the spot following the incident.
