LUCKNOW: A professor at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has come up with a mobile application that will restrict access to pornographic content.
Designated as 'Har Har Mahadev', the app has been designed by a neurologist of BHU's neurology department.
Dr Vijay Nath Mishra of Institute of Medical Sciences is reportedly the brain behind the app. The application is available on both mobile and desktop.
"When I first developed this app I had my patients, my children and my students in mind, but now I think this should be made available to the whole world," Dr Mishra told ANI.

What's more, the app not only blocks the porn sites, but it also plays bhajans or devotional songs every time someone tries to access 'inappropriate content'.
The Medical Superintendent of BHU, OP Upadhyay, said, "This is a very good step, it will help curb the corrupted mentality being spread in society. This is the land of Madan Mohan Malviya, hum maryadaon ke pujari hain."
At present, the app has just Hindu bhajans, but Dr Mishra said that he is in process of introducing devotional songs from other religions.
"By next month we will give a religion option. For eg if a Muslim tries to open then 'Allah o Akbar' will be played, similarly, chants of other religion will be loaded as well," Dr Mishra told ANI.
'Har Har Mahadev' was developed in six months and can block access to nearly 4,000 sites. The app also targets violent and other sorts of vulgar content.
It should be noted that watching porn in public spaces in India is illegal.
