Lucknow: Shocked by the Uttar Pradesh poll results, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, Saturday, alleged that the BJP rigged EVMs to secure victory in the poll battle.
A visibly upset Mayawati said, “Either the EVMs did not accept votes other than BJP, or the votes of other parties have gone to BJP in the EVMs.”
“Looks like voting machines have not accepted any vote from another party than BJP", she added.
Referring to BJP's strong performance in Muslim dominated seats, the former CM said that it's impossible that Muslims would have voted for the saffron party.
“Most votes in Muslim majority constituencies have gone to BJP, makes it evident that voting machines were manipulated,” she said.
The BSP chief added that she has written to Election Commission in this regard, adding that the elections should be held again under 'international observers'.
Attacking the BJP, she said, “If the PM and Amit Shah assert that the victory is due to the growing popularity of the BJP then the they should accept the challenge to re-conduct the polls using ballot paper...the reality will come out.”
The BSP received a serious drubbing in the elections. The party has leads only in 23 of the total 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
