Inspired by Yogi Adityanath's cleanliness pledge, minister Upendra Tiwari takes broom to sweep floor

Lucknow: Possibly inspired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's pledge to ensure cleanliness in the state, a minister in his government took broom in his hands to sweep the floor of his office at the State Secretariat here.

According to reports, Upendra Tiwari, a member of Yogi Adityanath's new cabinet, was so upset over the filth lying in the section of the Vidhan Sabha or State Legislature where his office is located that he decided to do the unthinkable (at least for ministers).

Taking everyone by surprise, the minister quickly grabbed a broom and began sweeping the floor and the corridor leading to his office. 

The entire incident was caught on camera and the visuals of the same were widely shared on the social media.

The 44-year-old Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh had recently taken a vow along with his Cabinet colleagues to clean up the entire state.

Besides ministers, all state government officials have been asked to commit 100 hours every year to the cause. The most interesting part of the pledge is the fact that the state police officers have been asked to themselves clean their respective police stations.

Importantly, Yogi Adityanath had on Wednesday banned all forms of tobacco from the government headquarters after spotting gutkha and paan stains on the floors and walls.
