Jaswantnagar election result 2022: The counting of votes for the assembly elections held in Jaswantnagar Vidhan Sabha, which falls under the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh, is currently underway and the results are still awaited. The Jaswantnagar seat witnessed a tough competition mainly between Shivpal Yadav, BJP’s Vivek Shakya and AAP’s Gyanesh Kumar. The seat has mostly been dominated by SP. As of now, Samajwadi Party's (SP) Shivpal Singh Yadav is leading ahead of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Vivek Shakya with 1,29,013 votes.
While Shivpal Yadav is contesting the assembly elections 2022 as a joint candidate of his PSP (Lohia) and the Samajwadi Party from his family bastion of Jaswantnagar. The PSP chief is fighting the polls this time after a truce with his nephew and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. He is pitted against BJP’s Vivek Shakya and AAP’s Gyanesh Kumar.
Shivpal Singh Yadav is the founder of the PSP (Lohiya) and a sitting MLA from Jaswantnagar Assembly seat in Etawah. He has been representing the seat since 1996 (five terms). Yadav resigned as a minister from the Akhilesh Yadav Cabinet in 2016 to float his own party. He had contested the elections from the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat in 2019 but lost the elections miserably.

The BJP has fielded Vivek Shakya against Shivpal Yadav from the Jaswantnagar Vidhan Sabha this time. Other notable candidates contesting in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Jaswantnagar are: Shivpal Singh Yadav (SP), Brajendra Pratap Singh (BSP), Madhu (JAKP), Gyanesh Kumar (AAP), Ashutosh Kumar (IND), Vishwanath Pratap (IND)
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Shivpal Singh Yadav of SP won in this seat by defeating Manish Yadav Patre of BJP by a margin of 52616 votes which was 22.58% of the total votes polled in the constituency. SP had a vote share of 54.42% in 2017 in the seat.
In 2012, Shivpal Singh Yadav of SP had won in this seat defeating Manish Yadav Pataray of BSP by a margin of 81084 votes which was 37.58% of the total votes polled in the constituency. SP had a vote share of 61.9% in 2012 in the seat.
According to the 2019 Lok Sabha poll data, 94.6% of the total voters in the Jaswantnagar Assembly constituency is a rural population and 5.4% is an urban population. The seat is dominated by Yadav voters. However, Shakya and Kushwaha voters are present in a significant number in the constituency. Also, 23.39% of the population in the constituency belongs to the Scheduled Castes.
