Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing a roadmap to double the income of farmers and adoption of modern techniques is a way to achieve that, state Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi on Wednesday.
Addressing a seminar here today, Shahi said, "A concrete strategy is currently being deliberated upon, so that the income of farmers can be doubled in the next five years. Soon, this will be implemented throughout the state."
Shahi, on this occasion, also said the state government is continuously working to improve the conditions of the farmers.
The UP government had come up with the Crop Loan Redemption Scheme and no shortage of seeds and manure for farmers will be allowed for the rabi season, the minister stressed. Efforts should be made to encourage farmers to go in for organic farming, he suggested.
"To double the income of farmers, it is necessary to increase the production of crops, and for this, the modern agricultural techniques have to be brought to the field. This will help to increase production in less cost, and also help the farmers to augment their income," he said.
