AGRA: Cold storage owners in Agra dumped potato stock after farmers did not turn up to take away their produce.
The production of potatoes was much higher than the demand, leading to lower market rates. This apparently is said to be the main reason for farmers not turning up.

"Farmers are not coming to take their potato produce, as demand is less but stock was bumper. We have to clear old stock as new season is coming and repair work needs to be done in the facilities. Situation is not good for farmers," said Harendra Kumar, the cold storage manager.
Earlier this month, there were reports of dumping potatoes - worth several crores - out of cold storage facilities and onto streets.
