Kolkata Encounter: Did neighbours knew about the gangster?

Two dangerous gangsters have been encounter by Punjab Police and Bengal STF in Kolkata. Both gangsters were living in a multi-storeyed building where common people also lived, so did the neighbours knew about the gangsters living in their society?
