Food delivery apps are a great use for people who want to place orders sitting in the comfort of their homes. However, many a time a slow internet connection or a glitch create hurdles resulting in problems for the customers.
Recently, in one such incident, a child had to bear the brunt of an error shown in the food delivery app. The incident took place on November 25 in Cebu City Central Visayas province of the Philippines.
The girl tried to order two boxes of chicken fillet with fries for her lunch with her grandma. However, her order showed an error due to a slow internet connection.
Instead of two orders, the app, which showed her errors repeatedly as she tried to place an order, kept on accepting it every time resulting in a total of 42 orders. Owing to the error that she was facing, she continuously made an order as she wanted to successfully make one.
All those errored orders went through resulting in multiple drivers coming to their residence one by one, accumulating over 30 riders at her doorstep.
Dann Kayne Suarez, a resident took to Facebook, sharing a post and a video describing the incident. He wrote, "About 42 orders made by a child on an app of a food delivery service online. The child tried to order 2 boxes of chicken fillet with fries for her lunch with her grandma."
He further wrote, "The child is known to have made orders successfully and was trusted to do so anytime. However, this day (November 25), due to a slow internet connection, her order went error. Owing to that error, she continuously made an order as she wanted to successfully make one."
"Unfortunately and unknowingly, those errored orders went through, resulting in multiple drivers coming to their residence one by one, accumulating 30+ riders. Some riders didn't come as they would probably have cancelled as they noticed this suspicious transaction. The child cried as she did not plan this to happen," he added.
He wrote, "All of us, neighbours of Our Lady Of Remedy, Mabolo, Cebu City, helped to solve this by buying those items. I even put it on live which helped me find more buyers. However, some riders were on a hurry for their next booking, leaving the place without being paid and bringing the unsold items."
