NEW DELHI: Several videos have surfaced online showing clashes between the organisers and the devotes of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri alias Bageshwar Dham ‘Sarkar’ while he was holding a ‘Divya Darbar’ (divine court) in Greater Noida on July 12. The videos show some alleged sevadars (attendants) and bouncers (private security guards) of Baba Bageshwar indulging in hooliganism, beating a youth and a priest misbehaving with a woman devotee who had come to attend the ‘Divya Darbar’ being held in Greater Noida.
According to several eyewitnesses, Baba Bageshwar Dham Sarkar’s bouncers allegedly thrashed a young man, and in another incident, a ma wearing a saffron robe as seen throwing away a woman devotee who had come to file her application in Baba’s divine court.
Ironically, all this happened in the presence of Baba Bageshwar and several policemen who were also deployed on security duty, but they did nothing to stop those indulging in hooliganism.
According to reports, hundreds of devotees who had come to attend Baba Bageshwar’s divine court were reportedly upset with the sheer mismanagement, poor arrangement of water and lack of coolers at the venue. Many were also upset with the organisers and questioned why they had distributed passes to more than the capacity of the pandal.
The situation soon turned worse as several bouncers of Baba Bageshwar Dham thrashed devotees in a bid to control them. For the unversed, Baba Dhirendra Shastri’s ‘Divya Darbar’ was organised on July 9 in Greater Noida with Kalash Yatra. From July 10 to July 14 arrangements for a recital of "Shri Bhagavad Katha" was made in an open area in Greater Noida's Jaitpur village.
However, the chaotic situation was seen in the pandal around 1 PM on July 12 when a huge crowd of devotees turned up for the event creating a stampede-like situation. Due to unbearable heat and lack of coolers, several elderly citizens, women and children fell unconscious. In the ensuing melee, many others were injured. Sensing the situation, the policemen deployed on security duty swung into action and stopped more devotees from entering the venue. Those injured were rushed to GIMS (Greater Noida Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital in Greater Noida.
Many other devotees quickly left the venue due to commotion and returned to their homes. However, the police and the organisers of Baba Bageshwar Dham’s Divya Darbar have flatly refuted reports of commotion and alleged hooliganism during the Baba Bageshwar’s event.
