BJP rallies to demand immediate arrest of ''tainted'' Trinamool leaders

Demanding the immediate arrest of leaders of West Bengal`s ruling Trinamool Congress leaders allegedly involved in the Saradha and Narada scams, the BJP`s state unit took out a rally here on Wednesday afternoon.

Kolkata: Demanding the immediate arrest of leaders of West Bengal`s ruling Trinamool Congress leaders allegedly involved in the Saradha and Narada scams, the BJP`s state unit took out a rally here on Wednesday afternoon.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists, led by party`s state President Dilip Ghosh and National Secretary Rahul Sinha, rallied from central Kolkata`s Esplanade to Rabindra Sadan.

Urging the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take immediate and appropriate action against the "tainted TMC leaders", Sinha said those who were involved in the monetary scams should not be allowed to roam freely.

"The Calcutta High Court`s decision has completed one month. Why are the ministers tainted by the Saradha and Narada scams still roaming freely? We demand the immediate arrest of these perpetrators as per the High court`s order," he said.

Refuting Trinamool`s allegations that the BJP was trying to influence the CBI probe, Sinha said the central agency is conducting the investigation under the order of High Court and his party has no involvement in the issue.

"The CBI is an independent organisation that is investigating the case under the strict order of Calcutta High Court. So BJP has no involvement in this. We demand quick action from the agency," he said.

"The people of Bengal want perpetrators to be punished. We are trying to put forward that demand," added Ghosh, while walking in the rally.
