Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Sultan Ahmed on Wednesday sought some more time to appear before the CBI probing the Narada tapes scandal in which several of his party's ministers, MLAs and MPs were allegedly seen accepting money in exchange for extending favours.
Ahmed was asked to appear before the CBI this morning to face interrogation.
Instead of appearing personally, the Trinamool MP sent his lawyer who sought some more time on his behalf.
When contacted, Ahmed told PTI that he was unable to go today as he had some other commitments to fulfill. "I will go later".
Meanwhile, Ahmed's younger brother Iqbal Ahmed, a Trinamool Congress MLA and deputy mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, had been already interrogated by CBI in the same Narada case.
