Karachi: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed satisfaction on the progress made by the army and other law enforcement agencies in the Operation Raddul Fasaad.

Operation Raddul Fasaad was launched by the Pakistan Army in February, after a spree of terror attack rocked the four provinces, leaving over 100 dead.

The Prime Minister chaired a high-level security meeting on Monday to review the progress of the operation, reports Dawn.

During the meeting, Sharif expressed satisfaction on the progress made by the army and other law enforcement agencies and gave directions for the pace of the operation to be further expedited.

Laws governing anti-terrorism efforts were also reviewed and ways to make these laws more effective were discussed. Also, it was decided that the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) would be accelerated and made more effective.

Participants of the meeting included Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, National Security Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Nasir Khan Janjua and DG ISI Lt Gen Naveed, as well as other senior civil and military officials.

The main objectives of the new operation is to ensure elimination of residual terrorist threats, the consolidation of gains made during previous counterterrorism operations and tightening security on the borders.

The operation would be joined by the Pakistan Air Force and Navy, and paramilitary organisations, civilian law enforcement agencies and intelligence outfits.
