Washington: The combined death toll after the devastating earthquake hit central Turkey and bordering Syria on Monday morning has now risen to 4300 on Tuesday as rescuers in the two countries continue their search hoping to pull out more survivors believed to be trapped under debris. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which was followed by two more powerful earthquakes and aftershocks has destroyed thousands of buildings, killed thousands of people and raised the specter of a new humanitarian disaster in an area of the world already racked by war, a refugee crisis and deep economic troubles.
