New Delhi: A freak accident at a school's playground in Malaysia has shocked people after a lawn mower malfunctioned causing one of its blades to fly off and slice a 14-year-old girl's head in half.

Nur Afini Roslan, a student at the Tuanku Abd Rahman secondary school, was playing on the field when the incident took place. Two other children who were with the teenager at the time also suffered minor injuries.


Following an emergency call, the police deployed a team and the girl's remains were taken to the hospital for a post-mortem.


According to the Daily Mail, Police Superintendent Hamazah Abd Razak said the accident happened at 10:30 am and that the girl was believed to have died instantly at the scene.


A small tractor is believed to have been pulling a mower attachment which malfunctioned disastrously.


The girl's death in currently being investigated and the identity of the persons responsible for the operation and maintenance of the mower isn't clear.
