If ATMs can be hacked, why can`t EVMs be tampered: Hardik fires fresh salvo
Ahmedabad collector Avantika Singh has refuted all allegations
AHMEDABAD: With less than 24 hours to go for the counting of Gujarat elections, Patidar leader Hardik Patel fired a fresh round of salvo over alleged EVM tampering.
Taking to Twitter, the 23-year-old Patel wrote in Hindi, “My words can evoke laughter, but no one will spare a thought on it. If the human body created by God can be harmed, so why can't man-made EVM machines be tampered? If ATM can be hacked, why not EVMs?”
The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader further claimed that there were attempts to hack EVM machines via source codes in Patel and Adivasi regions across the state.
Refuting all allegations, Ahmedabad collector Avantika Singh said, "These are baseless allegations. I don't think any clarification is needed. Even if any clarification is to be issued, it will be issued by EC."
On Saturday, the Patel leader had tweeted that 140 engineers were hired to tamper with 5000 EVMs.
I have 100% doubts on EVMs," he said.
He said that if there is no malfunctioning of the machines, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will lose the elections. He also claimed that exit polls will turn out to be false.
Reacting to Supreme Court rejecting Congress petition seeking a re-verrification of votes, he said: "Why are VVPATs used in the first place? It is used for smooth counting of votes wherever there is a fault. I did not understand Supreme Court's stand on the issue."
