Honda has released the final teaser of the India-bound WR-V – a Jazz-based sub-4m SUV – ahead of Tuesday's big reveal at the 2016 Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil.
The Japanese automaker has been testing the sub-4m SUV in the South American country for quite a while and the car is likely to go on sale in the coming months there, while its Indian debut is likely to happen in the first quarter of 2017. For the uninitiated, the WR-V stands for ‘Winsome Runabout Vehicle’.
Though there is no concrete information about the WR-V, here’s a quick look at what we expect from it. With the WR-V, Honda has used an approach similar to the one it had followed for the BR-V – the vehicle will share its side profile and platform with the Jazz, but will have an entirely different front and rear. As is apparent from the teaser images and the official sketch released by the automaker, the WR-V will feature a front profile that is typical of Honda SUVs.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport will be the WR-V’s primary rivals. Mechanically, in India, the WR-V is highly likely to borrow its powertrains from the Honda Jazz – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. However, there is a possibility that Honda will offer the 1.5-litre petrol unit of the City in the WR-V since the EcoSport offers powerful petrol options.
In terms of features, since it is based on the Jazz, the WR-V will borrow most of the things that the hatch is appreciated for, such as a spacious cabin, class-leading boot space, Magic Seats, and others.
