Porsche Taycan electric sportscar with 484 km range launched in India, priced at Rs 1.50 crore
Porsche Taycan is the first all-electric car from the German sportscar maker and made its debut in 2019 for the global markets. Porsche is offering Taycan in two body types and seven variants in total.

Porsche, the German sportscar maker has finally launched its first-ever electric car - the Taycan in India at Rs 1.50 crore (ex-showroom). Porsche is offering the Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo variants in India. While the Taycan is available in four variants – standard, 4S, Turbo and Turbo S; the Taycan Cross Turismo is offered in three variants – 4S, Turbo and Turbo S. Porsche has not released the full price list of all the variants and only the price of entry-level Taycan is announced.
The Porsche Taycan is offered in various engine configurations. While the entry-level Taycan gets a rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup making 408 hp, the Taycan 4S gets an all-wheel drive setup, which is standard on all other Taycan models and gets electric motors mounted on both axles. It delivers up to 530 hp output with overboost activated. The 4S can do 0-100 kmph in a claimed 4.0 sec. The Taycan Cross Turismo 4S makes 571 hp.
The Taycan Turbo, on the other hand, develops up to 680 hp with a 0-100 kmph acceleration in 3.2 sec for sedan version. The Turbo is also available in Cross Turismo version with 3.3 sec acceleration. The top-rung Turbo S produces up to 761 hp and 1050Nm, with 0-100 kmph sprint in 2.8 sec (sedan) and 2.9 sec (Cross Turismo).

Inside the cabin are four seats and a freestanding curved 16.8-inch digital instrument console apart from a 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment panel. The EV will be equipped with ‘Porsche Charge Map’ that will show the driver’s available charging stations on the route. Porsche first introduced the Taycan EV in September 2019, but the sales started in 2020. The launch for the Indian market got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Porsche Taycan comes with a sporty design and measures 4,963 mm in length, 2,144 mm in width and 1,378 mm in height.
As for the battery credentials, the Taycan RWD and 4S come with a 79.2 kWh battery pack, while the Turbo and Turbo S are available with the 93.4 kWh battery pack. The entry-level Taycan RWD gets a claimed range of up to 484km (WLTP), while the Cross Turismo version gets 456 km range on a single charge. The company will offer a wall mounted 11kW AC charger with the car that can take up to 9 hours on a single charge, while a 50kW DC fast charger, as installed in dealerships and pubic places can take upto 1.5 hrs for a single charge.
In terms of competition, the Porsche Taycan rivals Audi e-tron GT in terms of body type. Price wise, the Taycan goes up against cars like Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes EQC.
