New Delhi: Nearly eight year after hitting the roads in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor's premium SUV Fortrunner has crossed one lakh cumulative sales mark in the domestic market, informed the automaker on Monday.

Launched in 2009, Fortuner has has maintained its number one positioning in its segment, TKM said in a statement.


TKM Director & Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales N Raja said: "Being able to serve more than one lakh happy customers in such a premium and competitive segment, is a huge achievement for us."


The new Fortuner also has received an overwhelming response from the market, he added.


"With over 6,000 booking orders within the first few weeks of its launch, we sold close to 2,000 units of the new Fortuner last month clocking more than 80 per cent growth when compared to the numbers sold in the corresponding period in 2015," Raja said.
