Skytrax has released its World Airport Awards 2022 list and three Indian airports have made it to the list. Among the best 100 airports in the world are the Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. While the Delhi Airport is the best Indian airport, ranked at the 37th spot, Bengaluru airport is ranked at 61st spot, while the Mumbai Airport is ranked at 65th spot. No other Indian airport could make it to the top 100 best airports list.

The awards ceremony was held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris, France, on June 16 and it covered over 500 airports globally. "The event is one of the most prestigious quality awards for the airport sector, with CEOs, Presidents, and senior management from airports across the world in attendance," according to the statement.


For the fourth consecutive year at the Skytrax World Airport Awards, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport has been adjudged the best in India and South Asia. The airport also improved its overall ranking to 37th from last year's 45th position. Also, Delhi Airport run by GMR is the only airport from India to be included in the world's top 50 airports. The GMR Infra-led airport has also been declared as "the cleanest airport" in India and South Asia, it said.


Also, Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR Airport) improved its ranking from 71st spot to 61st position and is among the finest regional airport in India and South Asia. Customers voted for the airport with the greatest customer service every year in a global study, and BLR Airport received this honour, according to a statement.


On the other hand, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) maintained its 65th spot. There are 8 airports in the top 10 list of the Best Airports in India/ South Asia region.
