Zarina Nissar reiterates the importance of a proper skin and hair care routine in winter and shares the trendy colours of the season. What skin care do you suggest for winter?
I have always maintained that the best care for skin during any season involves a three-pronged approach. This is especially relevant during winter when the skin requires the proper nourishment and care for a healthy balance. The skincare regime for winter includes cleansing, moisturising and toning, first thing in the morning. Depending on the intensity and nature of work, I also recommend use of a moisturiser with SPF (sun protector control) of varying supplements. Those with oily skin should take extra care of their complexion as it is more prone to acne and is generally problematic in nature. Cleansing is very important but those with oily skin should use an oil-free moisturiser. Night care is as important if not more. The skin must be regularly cleansed and toned for rejuvenation. Most of the time, the body is completely neglected and thus becomes dry. After a shower, I recommend usage of a moisturising lotion and maybe even a final rinse with oil.
Proper skincare is also very important in older women to control wrinkles and prevent fine lines appearing. Some of the better products on the shelf include Synergie wrinkle control cream and Neutrogena complete skincare products for cleansing and moisturising.
Any handy tips for hair care in winter?
An oil-massage is always a welcome relief for hair, but during winter this becomes a necessity to make up for dry and scaly scalp. A warm oil massage and hot towels should be followed by a mild shampoo. For those with itchy scalps and dandruff, use curds with methi 20 minutes before shampooing your hair.
It is always better to have a separate conditioner for that extra nourishment. I would recommend Timothei and Thermosilk as among some of the better shampoos.
For a quick fix remedy to bring luster and gloss to dry and limp hair, add a few drops of lime or vinegar to the last rinse.
Some solutions for ready remedies include:
Pro-vitamin hair treatment capsules: these are ampules which when applied to damp hair, help towards softening and styling hair to requirements.
Nexus Hair volumiser: a leave-on conditioner that adds lustre and volume.
Nexus Designing lotion: a formula that helps you design and style your hair.
