Government has strongly taken up the problems being faced by Indians at Moscow airport, including detention of some of them, with the Russian authorities, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh told Y Lakshmi Prasad and Dasari Narayana Rao in a written reply that he had raised the issue during his visit to the Russian Federation in June this year.
"The matter has been strongly taken up with the Russian authorities both in Moscow by the Embassy of India and in New Delhi with the Embassy of the Russian Federation," he said.
Singh said the cause of detention of Indian nationals at Moscow airport has been linked to the Russian Immigration authorities asking such nationals to furnish additional documents in support of the purpose of their visit or stipulating the presence of those sponsoring them at the airport.
