She opposed Bhosale's plea for bail on medical ground, saying that the accused had raised a similar prayer before the Mumbai High Court early this year but had withdrawn later.
Bhosale's counsel Rajendra Pai argued that his client was falsely implicated in the crime due to political rivalry. The complaint, filed against Bhosale, was belated and registered at the instance of his uncle and NCP candidate from Satara Constituency, Abhaysingh Bhosale, he pleaded.
On August 7, the prosecution had opened its case against Bhosale and 14 others for the murder of NCP activist before the trial court in Satara.
Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam submitted before Sessions Judge S V Kulkarni a list of 113 witnesses and placed evidence against all the accused. He also disclosed offences allegedly committed by them and said the prosecution had direct and circumstantial evidence to nail them in the crime.
He also asked the defence lawyers to admit or deny the genuineness of documents furnished by prosecution. The matter was adjourned to August 21 as defence lawyers sought time.
