In the backdrop of the demand for President's rule in West Bengal by the Trinamool Congress (TC) and the Congress, an NDA fact-finding team on Sunday arrived in Choto Angra village in Midnapore district. TC has alleged that 18 of its supporters were burnt to death on Thursday night by the CPI(M). The team which is making an on-the-spot study of the situation in Chotoangra village is headed by Vijay Goel of the BJP. Goel said the team would submit its report to the central leadership after assessing the situation in the district.
The other members of the team are Inder Singh of Lok Dal, Prabhat Samantarai of BJD and Sanjay Nirupam of the Shiv Sena. NDA convenor George Fernandes had asked the team to visit the village at the instance of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee. Banerjee accompanied by senior Trinamool leaders as also those from the Congress visited the village on Saturday and demanded imposition of president's rule in West Bengal for the incident. Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has denied that any incident, as claimed by the Trinamool, had taken place. Bureau Report
