64th National Film Awards: Very happy and honoured, says `Dangal` actor Zaira Wasim
Zaira Wasim, who hails from the state of Jammu & Kashmir, is extremely happy and honoured to have won the coveted award for her performance in her very first film.
Mumbai: Zaira Wasim, who essayed the role of young Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan starrer ‘Dangal’, has been adjudicated as the Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
The teenager, who hails from the state of Jammu & Kashmir, is extremely happy and honoured to have won the coveted award for her performance in her very first film.
Reacting to the news of being named as one of the winners of the 64th National Film Awards, Zaira while talking to ANI said, “Very happy and honoured to be conferred with National Award for my first movie itself, will always be grateful to jury, Dangal team.
Zaira took special training in wrestling for her role in the film based on the lives of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters – Geeta and Babita.
The film directed by Nitesh Tiwari released on December 23.
