Mumbai: Aamir Khan’s home productions’ latest product – Secret Superstar – starring Zaira Wasim in the lead role has struck an emotional chord with moviegoers. The film may not have had a great start at the Box Office; it may garner more viewership in the days to come all thanks to word of mouth publicity.

Aamir is perhaps the only superstar who believes in giving fine talent equal or more screen space in films which features him too. We have seen it in Dangal where he took a backseat to give the storyline greater importance. And he has repeated the same in Secret Superstar, a film which has National Award winning child actor Zaira on board. Interestingly, Zaira bagged the coveted trophy for her role in Aamir’s Dangal which presented her as young Geeta Phogat.

According to movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, word of mouth publicity for the film is super strong.

“Expectedly, #SecretSuperstar has started slow... Exactly like #TaareZameenPar [2007]… But word of mouth is super-strong...

Although biz is generally low on Diwali day, Aamir’s decision to release #SecretSuperstar on Diwali day itself did raise eyebrows...

Look at larger picture... Now word of mouth will come into play from Fri onwards, not Sat [like it happens]... Biz will multiply on Sat-Sun (sic).”

Taare Zameen Par was Aamir’s directorial debut venture. The film revolved around a child (played by Darsheel Safary) suffering from dyslexia. TZP too had a slow start but went on to become one of the finest films ever made in the history of Hindi Cinema.

Secret Superstar has the potential to recreate the same magic. It narrates the tale of a young ambitious teenager who aspires to become a famous singer. But her conservative father is against her dream and the only one supportive of her aspirations is her mother.
