Shahid has been roped in by the director of Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha Shree Narayan Singh for a film. According to a report in Mid-Day, the teaser of the film tentatively titled Roshni will be unveiled when Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar and Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again hit the silverscreen tomorrow and day after.


Shahid, who has essayed a variety of roles so far, will play a common man fighting against power distribution companies that make consumers pay huge bills.


"The festival of lights is the right occasion for us to throw light on a subject that needs to be discussed. We look forward to making a film that is both commercially entertaining and encourages a conversation on the subject," Mid-Day quoted the filmmaker as saying.


In the recent past, we have seen Shahid take up extremely challenging roles. Haider and Udta Punjab – have been instrumental in rebuilding Shahid’s position in the industry.


And at the moment, the hunk of an actor is gearing up for the release of his first film with Bhansali. Shahid plays Maharawal Ratan Singh, a Rajput warrior. He has been paired opposite Deepika Padukone (who plays Rani Padmini) for the first time. Padmavati, slated to release on December 1 also stars Ranveer Singh.
