Ducati XDiavel to be launched in India on September 15
XDiavel is the first bike to get a belt drive, though this technology has already been adopted by manufacturers like Harley-Davidson and Indian for two-wheelers.
The Ducati XDiavel was first showcased at the 2015 EICMA motor show in Milan. Now, it has been confirmed through one of our sources that the power cruiser will be launching in India on September 15.
In Ducati's portfolio, the XDiavel is the first bike to get a belt drive, though this technology has already been adopted by manufacturers like Harley-Davidson and Indian for two-wheelers. And why the belt? The answer is, more reliability and safer power transmission over a long period of time compared to chain drives.
Mechanically, the XDiavel is powered by the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1,262cc engine, which churns out 158PS of power and 128.9Nm of peak torque. The Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 has a particularly detailed design with the cooling pipes on the left side of the bike, which is because the water pump inside the ‘V’ of the cylinders has been repositioned.
Looks-wise the XDiavel is similar to the standard Diavel. Overall, the bike looks more cohesively styled and that is because the cooling system has been rerouted and the exhaust pipes are now repositioned behind the engine. The bike also features an all-black theme, full-LED headlights, multi-spoke alloys, daytime-running-lights (DRL), rider information system, and a glossy black engine with machined belt covers.
The Ducati XDiavel's price could hover around the Rs 14 to 15 lakh mark (ex-showroom). And when the beast hits the markets in India, it will compete with other mean machines like the Yamaha VMax and the Harley-Davidson Nightrod.
