New Delhi: French automobile maker Renault has stopped production of its small car Kwid at the company's Oragadam plant in Chennai, a news daily reported on Tuesday.


As per a Times of India report, Renault has halted production of Kwid owing to its faulty engine.


Quoting sources, TOI said, the company has not produced a single unit since May 11 while it has scrapped 1,500 engines due to high noise level.


Kwid was launched in India last year priced upto Rs 4 lakh. Developed with an investment of around Rs 2,000 crore, the SUV-shaped small car is powered by an 800cc petrol engine.
