New Delhi, Oct 27: The Election Commission has decided to hold biennial elections to 69 seats in legislative councils of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh on December 01. While eight members of the legislative council of Maharashtra would be retiring on December 01, 25 members in Karnataka and 36 members in Uttar Pradesh would superannuate on December 05 and December 15 respectively. The Commission has recommended to the governors of these states to issue a notification on November 07 for the poll purposes, an EC press note said.
Counting of votes would take place on December 03, it added.
