New Delhi: You have been using the iPhone for a long time. Many a times, one thing might have also made you inquisitive –why is there is a hole between iPhone camera and flash.

Have you wondered why there is a tiny hole between iPhone camera and flash?

Well, this pattern of inserting a hole between the camera and flash started after iPhone 5. Before that, the iPhone models didn't have this pattern.

Basically, this tiny hole is a microphone. It goes by the name 'Rear Microphone'. But don't worry! This microphone doesn't listen to your voice.

This microphone is installed for noise cancellation. It enables the iPhone to eliminate background noises. It also helps in bringing crystal clear sound.

It also helps to record your voice without any frills. The Siri feature in your iPhone can recognise your voice better with the help of this microphone

There are three microphones in your iPhone (after the iPhone 5 range). One is at the bottom, one on the back and the other at the front (You will find it under the phone speaker grill).

You can use the top and bottom one for own voice recording and hearing purpose. While the back will help you video recording and getting rid of any unnecessary background noise while you are conversing or doing a face time call.
