New Delhi: In a move that Chinese handset maker Lenovo could do away with Motorola's Moto X series smartphones, the company has filed for Moto Z smartphone trademark.
The Lenovo-owned Motorola has been making smartphones in the G and X series over the past few years and they have been tremendeously succesfull, especially the Moto G smartphone series.
According to reports, Lenovo has a trademark application filed at the US Patent and Trademark for the term dated May 17.
Earlier in January, Lenovo had said that it would phase out the Motorola branding leaving only the 'Moto' line and the logo intact.
VentureBeat reported last week that Lenovo was working on two new smartpones and these two could be branded as the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play.
Or could it be the return of Moto RAZR?
Codenamed Vector Thin, the two new Moto Z smartphones are likely to be unveiled on June 9 in San Francisco.
Till then, one will have to wait and watch to be sure.
