Panic button a must on mobile phones from January 1, 2017: Govt
The Central government has asked all the mobile handset manufacturers to sell handsets with panic buttons installed with effect from January 1, 2017

New Delhi: In the latest, the Central government has asked all the mobile handset manufacturers to sell handsets with panic buttons installed with effect from January 1, 2017.
In addition, all new mobile phones must be GPS enabled from 2018.
As per media reports, these features have been made mandatory by the government in order to ensure women safety.
