New Delhi, June 08: Fiat India is likely to soon launch a diesel version of its mid-size car 'Siena' in an attempt to drive demand and achieve a nearly 31 per cent rise in sales at 42,000 cars this year. The car is expected to come fitted with the same 1910cc engine which at present powers the premium hatchback 'Palio' and station wagon 'Adventure Diesel', company officials said.

"We are still working on whether to make any changes in the 'Palio Diesel' engine or other specifications. The launch should happen later this year," the officials said.
They, however, declined to disclose further details.
The officials said the 'Siena Diesel' was being launched after receiving encouraging market response to the recently- launched 'Palio Diesel'.
Sale of the existing 'petrol Siena' which comes in 1200cc and 1600cc engine variants have remained sluggish following strong competition from rival models like 'Hyundai Accent', 'Ford Ikon' and 'Opel Corsa'. Bureau Report
