Imphal, Oct 14: Leaders of all communities in Manipur will meet here today to discuss the situation arising out of unconditional release of 13 NSCN (IM) members by the state government, according to a spokesman of United Committee Manipur (UCM). The meeting would discuss the future course of action if the government failed to give its clarification on the issue of protection of the state's territories and also on whether Centre-NSCN (IM) ceasefire was in force here informally, UCM secretary general Khoirom Gourashyam said.
Earlier, UCM had announced that the apex body would call a general strike whenever the state government imposed indefinite curfew in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas. The committee had also blamed the government for preventing democratic movement of the people by imposing indefinite curfew and added that it would not remain silent until a clarification was issued on boundaries issue.
Meanwhile, the indefinite curfew re-imposed in Imphal and Greater Imphal was relaxed for 11 hours from 6 am yesterday. The curfew would come into force again at 5.30 pm and remained in force till further orders. The curfew had been re-imposed in view of the apex body United Committee Manipur's call for a mass sit-in demanding government clarification in the controversial issue of the state boundaries.
