New Delhi: Hiring activity registered a 18 percent jump in September driven by sectors like telecom, banking and software services and this trend is expected to continue in the months to come, says a report.

The Naukri Job Speak Index for September stood at 1,796, witnessing an upward movement of 18 percent compared with September last year.


"Post an impressive 13 percent growth in August, the job market continues to sustain the momentum gained and is moving further north with an 18 percent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth in September," Naukri.Com Chief Sales Officer V Suresh said.


This growth is primarily driven by sectors like telecom, banking and software services.


Telecom, media and entertainment, ITeS, IT software and auto industries showed a consistent (YoY) increase in hiring activity throughout the last quarter (July-August-September).


"Looks like this trend will continue and we can expect a slow but steady revival of other sectors too in the months to come," Suresh added.


In terms of functional area, the demand for marketing and advertising in particular continued to show double-digit year-on-year growth in demand to the tunes of 27 percent in the September 2015 Index.


Moreover, the demand for ITeS/BPO professionals also registered an increase of 28 percent in September.


City-wise all metro cities have registered an increase in the hiring activity.


Delhi-NCR recorded the maximum YoY growth of 29 percent in hiring activity among the metros. Hyderabad and Chennai recorded rise of 25 percent and 18 percent, respectively.


For Kolkata, it was 22 percent, while Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru saw a YoY increase of 19 percent, 14 percent and 13 percent, respectively, in hiring activity for the same period, it added.
