New Delhi, July 19: The special court in Tihar Jail premises, held to dispose off cases of petty offenders languishing in jails, today disposed off 55 cases. Presided by Metropolitan Magistrate Alok Aggarwal, the court took up 70 cases and disposed off 55 of them, a prison release said here. The offenders were screened by the finger print bureau of Delhi Police so as to eliminate the habitual ones, it said.


The court has been organised 35 times before and has disposed of 2518 cases of undertrials so far, the release said adding they have proved useful to petty offenders who were willing to confess their crime.
