Congress claims support of six independent MLAs in J&K
Jammu, Oct 11: The Congress in J&K today claimed the support of six independents and expected 10 more by tomorrow to help put together a coalition government in the state by next week even as the party asserted there was no differences with its possible ally PDP on the issue of chief ministership.

PCC President Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters here that the independents were Molvi Abdul Rashid (Banihal constituency), Puran Singh (Dharhal), Aijaz Ahmed (Gool), Majid Wani (Doda), Jatinder Singh (Kathua) and Haji Ali (Kargil).
"Our number goes up by six today. By tomorrow, add another 10 taking the strength to 36," he said, adding "I will have support of a dozen independents from Kashmir and a party from here totalling 10 independents."
He said "our main aim was to dislodge National Conference and we have done that."
