London, Sept 15: Tennis fans in India are in for a disappointment coming weekend as the country's Davis Cup World Group playoff match against Holland will probably remain off television screens.
Doordarshan, who televised India's group matches at home this season, may not telecast the qualifying tie to be played in Zwolle, Holland, from September 19-21.
Ashish Ray of Ray Media Ltd said "Doordarshan had turned its back" on its Davis Cup squad.
"As TV rights holder to the Davis Cup, we have made an all out effort to bring the forthcoming tie to Indian viewers. But we have so far failed to convince Indian broadcasters to carry this event," Ray said in a statement.
