New Delhi: On the back of higher prices of pulses, vegetables and onion, WPI inflation for the month of October edged up to (-)3.81 percent as against (-)4.54 in September.


And while the deflationary trend continued for 12th straight month, the common man continued to reel under the burden of rising prices of pulses and onion.


The Wholesale Price Index-based inflation was (-)4.54 percent in in September and (-)4.95 percent in August. It has been in the negative zone since November.


As per government data released Monday, inflation food article rose by 0.3 percent to 264.9 (provisional) from 264.0 (provisional) for the previous month.


The index for 'Non-Food Articles' group rose by 0.2 percent to 220.7 (provisional) from 220.2 (provisional) for the previous month as per official data.
