Patna, July 09: The Bihar Assembly today plunged into bedlam as agitated opposition members sought admission of a privilege notice against Chief Minister Rabri Devi, for her recent remark that the state was being run by six chief ministers, forcing speaker Sadanand Singh to adjourn the house till after lunch. Raising the issue during zero-hour, the opposition leader in the assembly, S K Modi, made a determined bid to persuade the speaker to allow him to speak on the privilege notice, already sent to the latter, on Rabri's remark.

Amid protest from the treasury benches, Modi said the chief minister had breached the privilege of the house by stating that there were six chief ministers (chief justices of the Supreme Court, high court, governor, state assembly speaker and chairman of the state legislative council) and she was the sixth one. In the meantime, vociferous NDA MLAs stood on their feet and started shouting slogans demanding resignation of the chief minister for making remarks against the people holding constitutional posts.

They later trooped into the well arguing with the chair to allow them to speak on the privilege notice moved by them.

The speaker, however, expressed his unawareness over any such notice received by his secretariat. But the agitated members said they had sent the letter seeking admission of privilege notice in the morning itself. Bureau Report
