Kanpur, Aug 28: Various political leaders today hailed Uttar Pradesh Governor's decision to invite Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav to form the government in the state. Reacting to the decision, former MP Subhashni Ali said, "Now the BJP has functioned according to the Constitution and invited the leader of the single largest party."
"This should have happened one and a half year back what has happened today," she said.
Welcoming the move, senior Samaywadi Party leader and a member of national executive, Harbans Singh Bhalla, said the people of the state have been relieved of a bad government. 'This period was more painful than the emergency period," Bhalla said.
General secretary of city Congress committee, D N Chaturvedi, said it was the victory of the people of the state.
The mood at the Samajwadi Party office was also upbeat with workers exchanging greetings with each other.
