Bhopal, Nov 08: Madhya Pradesh government yesterday night refuted the claim by Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) that it was drawing excess power which could have led to power failure in Maharashtra and Gujarat. A state government spokesperson told news agencies here that the Madhya Pradesh was drawing less than 1630 mw electricity from the Western Grid for which it is entitled at the time when failure was said to have taken place today.

It is wrong to put the blame on Madhya Pradesh for the power failure. It was apparently caused by some internal weakness in Maharashtra State Electricity Board, the spokesperson said.
