Forest of Arden, June 05: Ryder Cup player Thomas Bjorn has withdrawn from this week's British Masters at the Forest of Arden after cutting his hand peeling some fruit. But the Dane, who had to have one stitch inserted after the knife slipped, is not thought to be in danger of missing next week's US Open.
"He was lucky that the knife went into a fleshy bit between his index finger and the next finger," said Angela Jones, of International Management Group. "It's not giving Thomas any pain, but it was uncomfortable gripping the club when he went to practise.
"The stitch comes out on Friday and he will now be flying to America on Saturday. There's no doubt about him participating next week."
Bjorn missed the Masters in April amid concern over the health of his baby son Oliver, who had breathing difficulties.
