Fatehabad, May 28: A local court today extended the stay on arrest of Haryana Congress chief Bhajan Lal and some others in a case charging them with threatening and obstructing police from performing official duties during the by-election to the Fatehabad assembly constituency. Additional district and sessions judge Darshan Singh ordered the stay on arrest of the former chief minister along with RPI MLA Karan Singh Dalal, Lal's personal security officer and six commandos of NSG attached with him while issuing a notice of motion for June 3. An FIR has been registered on May 22 on a complaint filed by Sirsa district inspector of police Jagdish Chand who alleged that the policemen were threatened by Bhajan Lal's security guards during the by-election. They also stopped police from performing official duties. Heated exchanges between the police and Bhajan Lal and others had taken place on May 21 when Haryana police allegedly detained the state Congress chief and Dalal in a rest house here on the ground that "sitting MLA could not move in the constituency during polls".
