Bangalore, May 04: The indigenous multi-role light combat aircraft today demonstrated its awesome prowess - as if two "arrow heads" struck the sky.
The technology demonstrators TD-1 and TD-2 of the LCA flew past Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his deputy L K Advani in formation at 600 kmph and at an altitude of 200 feet over the HAL airport here.
The dignitaries were spellbound specially when Group Captain "Chottu" Rakesh Bhaduria and Squadron Leader "Soggy" Sunith Krishna made a zoom pull up in the sky. The two tail-less, delta-winged, digital, fly-by-wire aircraft, christened as "Tejas" by Vajpayee at the function, made a display for nearly ten minutes and waggled in salute to those present at the occasion before making a smooth landing.
A formation of five advanced light helicopters "Dhruv" flew. It was followed by aerobatic display by a Dhruv. The indigenous intermediate jet trainer (HJT-36), which made its maiden flight on March 7, later gave a splendid display for ten minutes. Bureau Report
