New Delhi, Nov 25: India and Pakistan today agreed to observe a ceasefire from midnight tonight along the International Border, the Line of Control (LoC) and in Siachen in Jammu and Kashmir.
The decision was taken by the Directors-General of Military Operations of the two countries in the course of their weekly conversation on hotline today, External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.
The spokesman said they "agreed to observe a ceasefire with effect from midnight tonight alone the International Border, LoC and Actual Ground Position Line (AGPL) in Jammu and Kashmir."
India yesterday had said it would respond positively to Pakistan Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali's announcement that Pakistani troops would observe unilateral ceasefire on the LoC from Eid day.
Giving its positive response to Jamali's decision, India said durable ceasefire could hold only if Pakistan stopped cross-border terrorism and offered a ceasefire along AGPL in Siachen, the world's highest battlefield.
Pakistan immediately welcomed India's response and said its ceasefire offer included Siachen.
