Srinagar, Mar 24: Ten militants were killed in separate encounters with security forces which stepped up anti-militant operations in Jammu and Kashmir smashing three hideouts and seizing 30 kgs RDX since last night, a police spokesman said here today. Three Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami militants were killed in Gadole village of Kokernag in Anantnag district this afternoon, he said. Three others were killed in Ranjati of Udhampur, the spokesman said adding that two of them were identified as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir nationals Abu Muslim of Al-Bad and Mohammad Shah Alam of Jaish-e-Mohammad. Two infiltrators were killed when they tried to sneak into Peer Badesar in Chingus area of Rajouri district. In two other encounters, one militant each were killed in Kalanpathri and Hausagali in Udhampur district. They were identified as Sahil Sajad alias Saloon, a resident of Baramulla, and Qasba Jamia Lahore of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen outfit.

Police assisted by army smashed three militant hideouts during search operations at Limmer and Chimmer forest of Anantnag and recovered 30 kgs of RDX, a pistol, two hand grenades and some ammunition, the spokesman said.

A militant surrendered before police in Jhoddu forest in Doda district last night.

Meanwhile, police recovered body of one Abdul Hamid Mir near Wahipora village of Pulwama district. Mir, a resident of Rajpora, was kidnapped by militants on Saturday night.
